The Rewards of Hajj and Umrah

It is considered that if you do the Umrah once in your lifetime, you are forgiven for your sins. And should you visit the holy Hajj, you would be blessed with Paradise. It is also said that whoever performs Hajj for Allah's pleasure and does not have any conjugal relations with your wife, and does not do evil or sins then you will return as if you were born anew.

Hajj-Mabroor

In general, there are five conditions for any Hajj or Umrah to be accepted. It should be performed in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him).


  1. You should not show off your wealth, or greatness.
  2. It should be free of any obscenity, sin and quarrel or bad language.
  3. You should not have sexual relations, nor commit sin, nor dispute unjustly during the Hajj. Al Baqarah
  4. It must be performed with Halal
  5. You should not do unlawful deeds of disobedience to Allah and your Messenger (peace be upon him)

IHRAAM

Many people think of Ihraam as the clothes that people wear during Hajj and Umrah, but that is not correct. Ihraam in Arabic means entering into a state of prohibition. It is the intention of the Hajj and Umrah by which a person enters the state in which certain things become prohibited on him or her.

 

Types Of Ihraam

There are three types of Ihraam:

  1. IFRAAD, where you enter Ihraam from the Meeqaat for Hajj only. When you reach Makkah you perform an arrival tawaf (al-Qadoom). You can perform a Saa'i for your Hajj at this time or delay it for after the tawaf of Hajj (tawaf al-Ifadah or tawaf az-Ziyarah). you does not shave or cut your hair and stays in the state of Ihraam till you finishes stoning the Jamarat al-Aqabah on the tenth Dhul Hajjah.
  2. QIRAAN, where you enter Ihraam for Umrah and Hajj both, together. There is no difference in the rights of Qiraan and Ifraad except that the one who is doing Qiraan has to offer a sacrifice (Hady).
  3. TAMATTU' whereby you enter Ihraam from the Meeqaat for Umrah only and performs a complete Umrah on reaching Makkah by doing a tawaf and Saa'i and shaving or cutting your hair. You then exit the Ihraam and remain so until the eighth day of Dhul Hajjah (day of Tarwiyah) when you enter Ihraam again for the Hajj only. Thus performing a complete Umrah and a complete Hajj with separate intentions.

The Hajj is in the well-known months (i.e. the tenth, eleventh and twelfth month of the Islamic calendar)

  2. Al Juhfah (Rabigh) for the people of Shaam
  3. Qarn al Manazil for the people of Najadh
